Children now have access to more information than ever before. With the Internet and computer boom children are learning from an early age how to use and navigate their way around computers and the Internet. This workshop was devised after feedback was received from parents, carers and teaching staff around children's safety whilst they are accessing the internet, computers, computer games and viewing DVD's etc.,

How to deal with inappropriate images and material accessed whilst on-line

Pop Ups and Firewalls

Chat room safety

Using chat rooms safely including privacy settings

What personal information should not to be disclosed?

Certification/classification

Age appropriate (12, 15, 18 etc.,)

What does the certification mean?

What games/films are children and young people watching and/or playing

Mobile phone safety

Happy slapping - what is it?

Inappropriate text messages or picture messages - what can we do?

Developing strategies to keep safe whilst accessing computers, phones, the Internet etc.
