Children know have access to more information than ever before. With the Internet and computer boom children are learning from an early age how to use and navigate their way around computers and the Internet.
This workshop was devised after feedback was received from parents, carers and teaching staff around children's safety whilst they are accessing the internet, computers, computer games and viewing DVD's etc.,
Topics covered during the workshop: -
Inappropriate images and material
- How to deal with inappropriate images and material accessed whilst on-line
- Using chat rooms safely (open chat rooms)
- What personal information should not to be disclosed?
- Age appropriate (12, 15, 18 etc.,)
- What does the certification mean?
- What games/films are children and young people watching and/or playing
- Happy slapping - what is it?
- Inappropriate text messages or picture messages - what can we do?
