Head Teachers Testimonials
Greengate County Junior School
The work in our Yr4 classes has had a very positive impact on the childrens behaviour. It has given a clarity to the often 'taboo' subject about keeping themselves safe, what is appropriate and what is not acceptable in terms of their own bodies
It has enabled children to speak more openly about the issues and any concerns they have. This commonality of language has strengthened the child protection strategies in school and given staff and pupils a better way of communicating a difficult subject. Teachers and Support Staff feel more aware and able to pick up on problems more securely than previously.
Children first and foremost considered it fun and enjoyed the interactive nature of learning, but also realised the serious side of the discussions and advice. They appreciated the clear message of what was right, what was wrong, and that they had the power to do something about anything that made them uncomfortable.
The whole programme sits neatly alongside the ethos and values of Greengate Junior School and supports much of the work in SEAL, PSHE and the Every Child Matters agenda that we persue; re-enforcing the message about keeping safe. It is the sort of quailty work that should be available to all schools.

Thank you for the workshops you have delivered in school. The feedback from the students, staff and governor who observed has been universally positive. the sessions were delivered superbly and dealt with a range of students concerns sensitively and allowed time for students to open up, discuss their concerns and ask any questions they wanted to.
What was particularly helpful to me was the discussion on the range of social networking sites which alerted me to changes we needed to make to our systems in school in order to more effectively protect students.

St Marys Church Of England Primary School (Dalton In Furness)
The Kidsafe project was delivered to children in Years 1, 2 and 3. The project also included two information meetings for parents and a series of parent group meetings, which ran alongside the work with children.
The feedback received in school from the parent meetings was entirely positive and those parents who attended the group meetings felt that they had gained much from exploring the issues around the topic of child abuse and child protection.
All teachers felt that the work was well prepared with good resources being used. All felt that the providers worked very hard at presenting the sessions. Good friendly relationships developed with the children.
Overall the programme was a positive experience for the school that has raised awareness of some of the issues surrounding this very difficult area.

Petteril Bank Primary School (Carlisle)
The response from the majority of the children to the sessions was favourable, they looked forward to seeing KS every week. The format of sitting the children in a circle to discuss the issues worked well, as our children are quite familiar with circle time.
I have been really impressed to hear the children discussing in their own conversations or in talks relating to particular behaviour about them having yucky feelings because somebody may have said something to upset them. I think the programme has really enabled our children to open up about how they feel in a non threatening way and in a simple language that they all understand and can relate to.

I feel that it is appropriate to write to you with a few supportive comments at the end of the current Kidsafe programme that has been running in our school.
