Head TeachersThe programme was very useful as it linked very well with our existing programme of PSHE and our positive school ethos, which focuses on pupils self esteem.

Parents/Carers Comments from the Kidsafe programme
The following comments have been made by parents/carers during the delivery of the Kidsafe workshops:
I knew child abuse went on, but I didn’t think it could happen in my world, I am now well aware it could happen at any time, and too anybody
After talking about the agencies available to help in the event of child abuse happening, I thought it was a relief to know so much support is available, but how sad there has to be so many different agencies in the first place
Being aware of all the agencies, made me realise the extent of child abuse here
On previous courses no-one ever asked me how I was feeling, it was wonderful to be able to say when things upset me and share this in a safe environment with people who genuinely care and understand
My daughter came home after a Kidsafe session and said “These are my private places and no one can touch them but you can mummy at bath time to dry me, because it doesn’t make me feel “YUKKY”, I felt so relieved that she now has a clear, definite understanding around her own body
My son talks a lot more about his feelings and what is going on for him, the course is obviously set at the right level of understanding for him, and enables great conversation between the two of us
It’s great, we can speak in the same language as our children, using the word “YUKKY” has made conversations and emotions much easier for both sides to discuss
I was abused as a child. There was nothing like Kidsafe for me, but I so wish there had been, if I had been given the strategies that the children are given, my life could have been so different
Comments from Adult Child Protection Training Workshops
The facilitation was informal and relaxed with clear and concise discussions I have a better understanding of abuse and the behavioural implications
I feel more confident dealing with Child Protection issues now I have taken part in the training
I found the training beneficial as I learnt how to deal with a child disclosing abuse
I have a better understanding of the behavioural implications i.e., I know what to look for in young people’s behaviour patterns.
The session was very helpful to my understanding about the different types of abuse and what to look for, how to act and who to contact if a child discloses.
